Maria Cook

4th grade

I graduated Notre Dame University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. I have over twenty- five years of experience in education that includes a broad range of classroom environments.

I have taught Sunday school, homeschooled, taught preschool, tutored, and operated a licensed home daycare for eleven years. I have also substituted in Harford County Public Schools and Perry Hall Christian School. This is my third year at Perry Hall Christian School teaching second grade. In my eyes, it is the best grade to teach, because they have such curious minds and love to ask questions.

I believe that students need to be challenged in academics and taught to think outside the box. I believe that every child is special in their own way and that every child learns in a different way.

One of my favorite subjects to teach is Bible. I like to relate my lessons to our lives.  When teaching a Bible lesson, I like to ask my students” How does this lesson relate to our life?” I love to hear how much my students love God, how they can please God and they can teach others about God.

I believe that it is my job not only to prepare my students for the next grade but to prepare them to be model citizens in God’s world and to prepare them for the future.

When I am not planning a lesson or grading papers, I enjoy spending time with my family.  In my spare time, I like to camp, read, watch my sons Aaron and Josh play soccer, go to the movies, and tour Washington D. C.

If I had three wishes, I would wish for a farm, zoo, or a bunny farm. I am an animal lover and love to be around animals. I enjoy playing with my American Blue Bunny named Baby Tony and dog Max.
